THE COMPUTER(S)

Overview

The onboard computer set is as follows:
- Flight computer: Flashlite 368EX
- I/O: jkmicro multi I/O
- IMU controller and serial interface: Rotomotion 6-DOF controller with an Atmel ATMega32

There will essentially be two onboard computers: the Atmel and the Flashlite. The Atmel has a 16 MHz processor and it will be used to take some of the measurement burden from the 25MHz Flashlite. The Flashlite will handle the inner and outer control loops, as well as any mission routines and data logging. The Rotomotion controller allows a pilot to manually control the airplane using a regular hobby radio.

Status

The electronics package is being assembled in preparation for programming. Below is the Flashlite 386EX. The I/O board is shown attached to the bottom with standoffs.
