Building the Weed Wacker

first try

Our first attempt was out of
1/8" plywood.  We soon found out
that this material was way too
heavy and had to start over.
It wasn't a total loss though, in that
it made a nice fire.

Weed wacker engine

Here's a picture of the original engine being tested.
It performed beyond our expectations.

High-tech assembly methods

We used a table saw to cut the 2x4's into
angle and sticks.

nice, crooked wing

Keeping things simple was one of
our priorities.

put'n it together

Test fitting the wing on the fuselage.
Everything on this plane is made of
Douglas fir 2x4's except for the wing sheeting and the firewall.  The total cost in wood was under
$15.00.
